Group Stand Up Paddle Board Lesson
(90 Minute Lesson)
In this lesson you will learn the basics of Paddle Boarding, endurance, posture, balance, etiquette and you will receive equipment advice.
Private Stand Up Paddle Board Lesson

(90 Minute Lesson)
In this lesson you will have the full attention of  an Instructor, allowing you to learn at your own pace.

Stand-Up PaddleBoarding is the hottest new craze taking over the water sports because it is easy to learn but fitness enthusiasts are attracted to paddleboarding because it provides a great core workout as well. PaddleBoarding is fun and helps develop balance, paddling, and surfing skills.

SUP activities are family friendly and can be enjoyed at any age. Those who come out to learn how to paddle board have fun while they get fit and most find to be a relaxing activity on the water.

Captain John’s Fawn Harbor & Marina is Big Bear Lake’s paddle board destination and has offered stand-up paddle board rentals for years. This year the lakeside marina will offer Paddle Fit Classes, SUP Lessons, an SUP Intensive Clinic, and watercraft Nature Tours. If you are a woman, be sure to join as a member of the Babes on Boards (BOBs) SUP Club or drop in for an impromptu session as female visitors over 10 years of age are welcome.

SUP – Stand-up Paddleboard Lessons Level 1 Beginners, 90 Minutes
Weekdays by Reservation, Saturdays Noon-1:30pm
If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to stand-up paddle board this is the perfect class to take to ease yourself into it. Topics include learning the basics about how to use the equipment, safety, and the right way to maintain balance and correct way to position yourself. Next you’ll learn different paddle strokes, and how to steer and turn. By the end of the lesson you will be paddling around on your own.

SUP Stand-up Paddleboard Lessons Level 2 Intermediate/Advanced, 90 Minutes
Weekdays by Reservation, Saturdays 2:00pm-3:30pm
If you are already somewhat familiar with paddle boarding, this course will teach you strengthening exercises to improve your power as a paddler and how to properly use your core for improving fitness and stamina. You’ll also learn paddling techniques and the best foot/body positions you can use to race or challenge yourself further.

SUP Intensive Clinic
(Date TBA, All Levels)
Dream of learning stand-up paddle boarding from the best? Once a year Captain John’s offers an intensive clinic to help paddle board enthusiasts learn from leaders in the sport. Clinic includes training both on land and on the water. Learn tips and techniques to help move the boards easily, how to properly paddle, how to stand and put those techniques into action so you can get the competitive edge or learn how to do it the right way from the very start.

Babes On Boards BOBs SUP Club Captain Johns Marina Big Bear Lake
Babes on Boards (BOBs) SUP Club
$5 per Session or Seasonal Membership $25, Thursdays 5:30-7:30pm
Babes on Boards is the stand-up paddle board club for women that meets at Captain John’s Marina Thursday evenings from 5:30pm until 7:00pm. Membership includes a BOBs t-shirt, BOBs decal, and shared access to the SUPs so you can learn or practice your skills along with other gals once a week. The tradition is to bring a dish to share for a potluck and get to know other gals while everyone takes turns paddling. Minimum membership age for participation is 10 years of age.

Stand-Up Paddleboard Mid-Week Season Pass
Weekdays (Mon-Fri), Non-Holiday Periods Only
Captain John’s Stand-Up Paddleboard Season pass is the perfect gift for yourself or anyone who wants to get going in this fun sport but are not ready to purchase a SUP yet. With the exception of holiday periods, season pass holders can grab a board and get out on the water for an hour anytime mid-week from April 1st through October 1st for 60 minutes of fun. Simply purchase your pass and then just check-in and get out on the water!

Nature Tours by Stand-Up Paddleboard 
Choice of Watercraft Vessel, Sundays, Noon-2:00pm
Captain John’s Fawn Harbor & Marina is located in a nature reserve where you can enjoy the peaceful environment and relax on the open water while enjoying the scenic views, birds and other wildlife. Choose a stand-up paddleboard, canoe or kayak and embark on a nature tour guided by one of our staff members.

*Group sessions available for up to 8 people and require 2 or more participates to run the class.
*Reservations must be made in advance. SUPs availability are limited.

*Age minimum is 7 and up.
*Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
